Why Do I Need Flood Insurance for My Business?

Floods are the number one natural disaster in the United States and can be financially devastating for a business. Commercial property insurance does not typically cover the peril of flood – and the average commercial flood claim is roughly $90,000. Without flood insurance, businesses are faced with three choices:

  • Paying recovery costs out of pocket
  • Taking out a loan to cover costs
  • Closing doors and walking away

Following a flood, 25% of businesses that close never reopen.

A commercial flood policy can help protect your business location. It can also protect its physical contents and assets including equipment, fixtures, furniture and inventory. Flood insurance can cover your business, even if there is no federal declaration of disaster.
